Economics - Opportunity Cost Review the story, "The Blue Beads". Identify items traded by the colonists and Indians. With a partner tell why the trader was willing to exchange items for those he/she needed more. Goods/Services-Resources Classify the following as a good or service. Then decide if it is provided through natural, human or capital resources: blacksmith - weapon - wood - leader - bellows - lighthouse... Civics - Specialization/Interdedpendence From the list of tasks, decide which tasks require special training or skill, and which people usually do themselves: wash clothes - build a porch - shopping - fixing a car - dentistry... Community - Cultural Interaction Review the story "Trinkets for Trade." Discuss John Smith's motto, "If you do not work, you do not eat." Why would Captain Smith need such a motto?
